PIPPIN (Taru sormusten herrasta – The Lord of the Rings)

Kun olin lapsi, leikin usein Sormusten herraa isoveljeni ja kahden serkkuni kanssa. Minun olin Pippin, koska olen meistä nuorin, kuten Pippin on hobiteista nuorin. (Toisaalta olin myös Gandalf, joten…?) Pippin on ehkä “tukintolvana”, mutta harva onnistuu näyttämään yhtä komealta Gondorin haarniskassa paljain jaloin. Ja vielä selviämään niistä taisteluista hengissä…

When I was a kid I used to play The Lord of the Rings with my big brother and our two cousins. I was Pippin since I’m the youngest of us, just like Pippin is the youngest of the Hobbits. (But I was Gandalf, too, so…?) Pippin may be a “fool of a Took” but not many look as handsome in Gondor’s armor barefooted as he does. Or survive all those battles…
