YOUNGLIN (Star Wars)

Siinä missä padawan on oman mestarin saanut jedioppilas, kutsutaan nuorempia lapsia nimellä younglin. Minusta tämä on hirveän söpö sana, ja käytän sitä joskus esimerkiksi leiriläisistäni tai sijaisopettajana ollessani oppilaistani. Harmi kyllä, sana ei toimi kauhean hyvin suomeksi käytettynä.

A Padawan is a Jedi apprentice who’s got their own Master, but Younglin is the name for younger children. I think this word is very cute and I sometimes use it for my camp kids or the students when I work as a substitute teacher. Too bad it doesn’t work very well in Finnish.
