GRIEVOUS (Star Wars)
Grievous on mielestäni enemmänkin päheän näköinen pahis kuin erityisen hyvin käytetty pahis. Piirtäessäni häntä aloin antaa entistä enemmän arvoa hänen designilleen, kaksinkertaiset varpaat ovat nimittäin cool ratkaisu.
I think Grievous is more a cool-looking baddie than an actually well-handled bad guy. When I was drawing him I started to respect his design more and more. I find those double toes extremely cool.

Le Koipi pääsi melkein Sankareiden kuukausi -listalleni. Kyseessä ei siis voi olla kovin paha kaveri. Mutta kuinka hän voisikaan olla kovin paha, onhan hän sentään ranskalainen. Ja sammakko. Ja ninja. Enimmäkseen eeppinen tyyppi siis.
Le Frog almost made it to my Month of Heroes list. So he can’t be that bad of a fellow. After all, how could he be bad? He’s French. And a frog. And a ninja. So mostly an epic guy.

KEISARI – THE EMPEROR (Star Wars)
Alkuperäisissä Star Warseissa Keisari on lähes klassinen satupahis: paha vain pahuuden takia, eikä sillä ole mitään väliä, mistä hän tuli ja miksi hän on niin paha. Sitten saimme esiosatrilogian, joka opetti meille, että Keisari on kenties vielä pahempi kuin osasimme kuvitella.
In the original Star Wars movies the Emperor is almost like a classical fairy tail baddie: evil just for the sake of evil, and it doesn’t matter where he came from or why he is so evil. The we got the prequel trilogy and learned that the Emperor was possibly more evil than we thought.

DALEKIT – THE DALEK (Doctor Who)
Dalekit ovat vähän niin kuin borgit: ryhmä-älyn yhdistämiä tunteettomia planeetantappajia. Paitsi että dalekit eivät ole edes humanoideja vaan käytännössä roskapönttöjä, joihin on ympätty imukuppi ja vispilä. Se tekee niistä vielä pelottavampia.
Daleks are a bit like the Borg: merciless planet-destroyers connected by a hive mind. Except that Daleks are not even humanoids but basically trash cans with a plunger and a whisk. Which makes them even scarier.

RUOSKA-CLUNY – CLUNY THE SCOURGE (Soturi Matiaksen miekka – Redwall)
Ruoska-Cluny on Redwallin taru -sarjan ensimmäinen pahis, ja klassinen sellainen: iso, julma, yksisilmäinen rotta, joka pieksee vastustajiaan (ja alaisiaan) ruoskamaiseen häntäänsä kiinnitetyllä myrkkypiikillä. Tarinan sankari, Matias-hiiri, pelastuikin Clunyltä kirjaimellisesti viimeisellä kellonlyömällä.
Cluny the Scourge is the first villain in the Redwall book series, and a classical baddie he is: a big, cruel, one-eyed rat who whacks his enemies (and allies) with the poisonous spike attached to his scourge-like tail. The hero of the story, Matthias the mouse, was literally saved from Cluny by the bell.

BORGIT – THE BORG (Star Trek)

ARPINAAMA – SCARFACE (Kaukametsän pakolaiset – The Animals of Farthing Wood)
Arpinaama on lapsuuteni fiktiivisiä pahiksia, lempi-TV-sarjani toisen kauden pääkelmi. Arpinaama oli Valkopeuran puiston sinikettujen johtaja, jota korpesi todella pahasti, kun hänen alueelleen saapui uusia asukkaita. Eikä se tietenkään johtanut mihinkään hyvään kummankaan osapuolen kannalta.
Scarface was the fictional villain of my childhood, the main bad guy of season two of my favorite TV show. Scarface was the leader of the blue foxes of White Deer Park, and he did’t take it too well when there were newcomers in his area. And this, of course, didn’t lead to anything good for either of the parties.
