Yhdessä Bad Batchin jaksossa päähenkilöt seikkailevat tuhoutuneen tähtituhoojan moottoreissa (se oli tietysti Tasavallan alus eikä Imperiumin, kuten tässä kuvassa). Pisti pohtimaan, kuinka järjettömän kokoisia ne alukset ovat.
In an episode of The Bad Batch the main characters end up in the engines of the wreckage of a star destroyer (it was Republic though, not Imperial like in this image). Made me really think how ridiculously huge those ships are.

Rebels-sarjan Hera on mainio hahmo. Oikeastaan kaikki sarjan päähenkilöt juoksevat paljon, jopa Chopper, jolla ei oikeastaan edes ole jalkoja.
Hera from the Rebels series is a really good character. Actually all the characters from that show run a lot, even Chopper, and he doesn’t even really have legs.

Jedin paluun loppukohtaus, yksi parhaista elokuvasarjojen lopuista ikinä. Kaipa tämä on myös hyvä tapa lopettaa StarWarsTober. Aloitin piirtämällä George Lucasin kirjoittamassa Star Warsia, ja lopetin siihen, mihin Anakinin tarina loppui. The ending of The Return of the Jedi, one of the best endings to a movie series ever. I guess this is also a good way to end my StarWarsTober. I started off by drawing George Lucas writing Star Wars, and finished off at the end of Anakin’s Story. I really didn’t plan this in advance, just realized after drawing this that it turned out pretty nicely. Or, as George Lucas might put it, it’s like poetry, it rhymes.

Suurimman osan kuvista tussasin pullomusteella käyttäen musteeseen kastettavaa kynää. Minulla on muutamia vaihdettavia teriä siihen. Lautasen tuhosin käyttämällä sitä musteen laimentamiseen vedellä saadakseni harmaasävyjä aikaan. Onneksi kyseessä on vanha lautanen, joka sopii tähän hommaan hyvin. Kuvassa vasemmalla on muutamia alkoholipohjaisia tusseja, joita käytin kuun lopussa matkoilla ollessani: pari erilaista harmaata, musta sekä väritön tussi, jota voi käyttää sävyjen sekoittamiseen. Lisäksi muutamia ohuita mustia ja harmaita tusseja sekä ilman muuta lyijytäytekynä ja kumi – niillä aloitan lähes kaikki taideteokseni.
I inked most of my drawings with bottled ink using a dip pen for which I have some changeable nibs. I pretty much ruined that plate when I used it to dilute ink to get greys. Luckily, it’s an old plate that’s just fine for art. On the left there are some alcohol-based markers I used towards the end of the month when I was travelling: a couple of different greys, a black and a colorless one to blend other colors together. In addition to those there are some black and grey fineliners and of course a mechanical pencil and an eraser – I use them to start almost all of my artworks.

StarWarsTober just goes on and on…

Kuvittelisin, että banthojen päällyskarva on karkeaa, mutta autiomaan äärilämpötilojen eläiminä niillä on varmasti todella hyvin eristävä ja pehmoinen pohjavilla. Olen päässyt kokeilemaan myskihärän pudottamaa talvikarvaa, se on aivan käsittämättömän pehmeää, kuin tummanharmaa lämmin pilvi.
I’d imagine that the overhair of banthas is quite coarse and rough but as animals adapted to the extreme temperatures of the desert they live in they probably have very insulating and soft underfur. I’ve gotten to touch the shed winter wool of a musk ox and it is incredibly soft, like a dark grey, warm cloud.

When in doubt, it’s always a good idea to draw a cool beast.

Kohtaus Pimeästä uhasta. Ja no joo, itse asiassa isot kalat elävät varmaan aika syvällä, mutta kun ottaa huomioon, että sankarimme olivat aikeissa matkata Naboon planeetan ytimen läpi, niin siihen suhteutettuna tämä kohtaus tapahtuu suhteellisen matalassa vedessä …eikö?
A scene from The Phantom Menace. And, well, yes, I think big fish swim in the depths, but considering that our heroes were planning to travel through the core of Naboo, this scene happens in quite shallow waters in comparison …right?

Windun ja Palpatinen kaksintaistelu Sithin kostossa. Olin matkoilla lokakuun lopun, joten tein viimeisen viikon Inktoberit tussikynillä ja harmaasävytusseilla pullomusteen sijasta. Piirustusvihkoni paperi on liian huokoista alkoholitusseille, tajusin sen kun väri levisi aika pahasti tässä.
Windu and Palpatine duelling in The Revenge of the Sith. I was travelling in the end of October so the last week of my Inktober was done with fineliners and grey markers instead of bottled ink. The paper in my sketch book is too soft for alcohol markers, I notices this when the color spread pretty badly here.

I wasn’t inspired at all by this prompt but you can always draw Rex removing a clanker.

Beast = Zillo Beast, ’nuff said.

Opin englanninkielisen sanan ”coruscate” merkityksen lukiessani Terry Pratchettin Men at Armsia muutama vuosi sitten. Tarkoittaa suunnilleen samaa kuin ”sparkle” (kimallella tai kiiltää), ja sopii hyvin Tasavallan mahtavan pääkaupunkiplaneetan nimen pohjaksi. ”Coruscate” ei kyllä noin muuten kuulu ihan jokapäiväiseen sanastoon, enkä varmastikaan muistaisi sitä, jos en yhdistäisi sitä Coruscantiin. Jotain hyötyä tästä nörtteilystäkin.
I learned the meaning of the English word ”coruscate” when reading Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett some years ago. It’s basically the same as ”sparkle” and works well as a basis for the name of the magnificent capital planet of the Republic. Other than that, ”coruscate” doesn’t really belong to my daily vocabulary and I wouldn’t remember it if I didn’t connect it to Coruscant. This nerding pays off, sometimes, kinda.
